Internet Speeds?

I am looking to change some credit card machines around for my seasonal business. i have been using phone lines to run the machines and it's time to upgrade to cable. can anyone please list the speeds for upload/download speeds of a phoneline, cable, and t1 or just a list of anything you can think of. thank you
Internet Speeds?
Aruba!!!!!!!!!
Internet Speeds?
On landline it took 6 minutes to download 1 MB. On cable it takes no more than 3 seconds.
phone =56kbps down hardly anything up maybe 14.4kbps if your lucky.

cable cox= up to 12mb down 1mb up = very good and affordable

DLS not as good but still affordable

T1= 1.5 up and down = dedicated $800 to $1000 a month

T3= 5.0 up and down dedicated 3 to 5 grand a month

i suggest you call cox if you have that option. they have a business account where you can get T1 speed at a fair price.

It's not dedicated but it will blow the phone lines away that your using now.

also

if you don't have cox options, roadrunner through time warner cable has almost the same thing.

Good Luck

Phone: 28-52 KB

DSL: 512 KB to 6 Meg

Cable: 3 to 6 Meg
Ok, technically..

A T1 provides synchronous 1.5M speed.

Cable Internet can go up to 50M/20M Down/Up

aDSL can go up to 8M/1M

aDSL2+ can go up to 24M/1M

A bit of overkill for credit card machines though :)

Of course it depends on what provider you choose as to what speeds they will offer.
I worked on ATM machines for a large bank some time ago, and we used DSL for connectivity. It was 1) cheap, 2) fast, and 3) reliable. (Yes, DSL CAN be reliable!) It was also overkill, since we never used 10% of the bandwidth, and most of the traffic was for security features. In addition, DSL can give you the security advantages of point-to-point communications -reduced exposure to hackers. Hope this helps...
DSL 1.5Mbps/128Kbps The first number is the down load speed the second is the upload. These are the advertised speeds. Actual speeds will definitely vary. In most cases they will be no way near what is advertise.

T1 1.544 Mbps. This is the advertise speed and will be the actual speed unless there is some problem on the circuit. Problems can be fix.

Cable Modem. Advertise speeds vary greatly for these. 4, 5, 10, 12 Mbps. Actual speeds will also vary greatly.

The T1 is very expensive and can facilitate 23 actual circuits. Make sure you have enought business for type circuit.
