Technology in business communication?
I do think that businesses are on the right track to using social media to communicate. They are trying to keep up with the times. My mom's mall uses text messaging to alert people about sales going on at different stores. Her mall also has a Facebook and Twitter. A lot of companies are developing web sites and blogs to help communicate with customers and other businesses.
I don't know how effective MP3 players are in professional communications, but I'm sure that the business people use their smart phones and PDAs to check their companies website and emails.
There are probably some businesses out there that aren't making use of these things, and I think that in the next couple of years, those businesses will feel the result of not keeping up with the times.
Colleges are even starting to create majors that deal with professional communications, and they teach how to write content for websites and how to create professional blogs. I'm working on a degree in technical writing and professional communications, so I'm learning all of the different ways that schools and organizations can use social media and technology to their benefit.
