At what point do you mind your own business?

IF you had knowlrdge of a serious violent crime and you knew that going to the authorities would not change the outcome, what would you really do? keep in mind that nothing is kept secret anymore and you would find yourself on the news stations and newspapers and internet...etc.
At what point do you mind your own business?
If you have knowledge of a serious crime, you go to the authorities. You owe it to your fellow mankind...in this case, the victim. And honestly, if it ever comes out down the road that you knew something...say in general conversation over the water cooler someday....you are going to look like a MAJOR SCHMUCK to people for not reporting it. Not to mention, sometimes crimes go unpunished for a number of reasons. What if your information is exactly what the prosecution needed to convict the criminal, and your lack of reporting it sets the criminal free? Could you live with that...FOREVER??

And another thing, you maybe only THINK you are going to end up all over the newspapers. And even if that's true, trust me, the next major crime that happens, probably tomorrow, no one will remember your name.
At what point do you mind your own business?
It would change the outcome for the criminal
you have a moral obligation to go to the authorities. In some cases, not doing so could in itself be a criminal act. Sometimes we have to stand up for what is right even if we don't like what may happen to us afterwards
There's not really enough information in your question for me to answer fully, but here's the short answer in the form of another question: If you went to the authorities and got into the news, is it possible that you would keep someone else safe? Could it be that by putting the information out there, someone else could be spared the experience of a violent crime happening to them or someone they love? If you can answer yes, it might be worth the risk.

This doesn't sound like a simple situation so I hope you can make the right decision. Many blessings!
