Wifi Router Business.. What do you think?

I'm thinking of starting a business. it is basically adding a wifi router on the top of every street in a town so people can use broadband without having to buy a telephone line first. do you think it could work and would the council allow it?

its basically changing the face of every street in the uk so would they let me do it?

also whats the furthest a router can transmit internet connection to..?

i know its something like 3/4houses. but there must be someway to make this bigger.

Clearly you are not technically capable of such a project. If you plan to provide a technology solution you must have technical capabilities.

There are ways to achieve this goal and equipment is made by several different firms that can achieve this goal.

Aside from your technical weakness, your business model needs examination. This has been attempted in many places with limited if any financial success. Government rights of way must be procured and this is not free as they will want something for use of their equipment. If you wish to use existing street light, traffic light, or utility poles you will need to compensate the current users for this. If you build your own towers, you have in addtion to construction and maintenance cost, substantial cost in procuring rights of way and permits.

Existing utilities, cable tv, etc already have networks. Adding Internet traffic to existing infrastructure is an incremental cost so they will clearly have a marked cost advantage over any newcomer who will run only Internet traffic. This puts you at severe disadvantage economically.

You need help as you say. The help includes a solid business plan, a solid technical plan, and all the related parts. Once this is done, I believe yoiu will conclude this is not likely to turn a profit.

Maybe you should educate yourself a bit more before trying to start a business you know nothing about.
Totally wrong approach.

I think you need to do some research.
