Static IP? I have security camera's at business i want to see over the internet? please help?

Ok i have DSL...and the ip address changes everytime...It is also on wireless so i use 192.168.1.x! i have a security DVR and its IP is 198.162.1.X...how do i set up a Static IP address using netopia router? and when i do set up it ...lets say im at home what IP do i type in webaddress to access the DVR login? please help me

To get a static IP you have to talk to your internet service provider. It's not something you can do yourself. Many will charge for this, and some won't offer it at all!



In such a case, you can use a service like dyndns which will give you a DNS domain name which will always point to your router, so you can access it easily.

If i am not mistaken you have to disable the dchp option on your router and assign how ever many static IPs to your router. You can get statics from you ISP. There should be some kind of options you can configure the IP to the DVR on the DVR.
