Need help with a life changing decision.?

I have worked at the same company since 2003 after I graduated high school. I actually helped to start the company with one other person. Now the company is much larger (as in over 150 employees large). However I do not agree with all of the management practices and how things are going. I feel like nothing good I do even helps anymore if other things are happening which are creating problems. I feel disappointed much of the time about my career.

I did not go to college and all I know is this field I am in (Internet business).

I feel like doing something completely different and starting over. I will be 25 next month and feel like this age means a new leaf. But at the same time I do not want to %26quot;throw away%26quot; my experience and what I have learned. If I end up doing something completely unrelated to the Internet (and I have no idea what) then I will fall behind on what I do now. That kind of scares me.

Any advice?
Need help with a life changing decision.?
Sorry no one has answered this question for you but no one wants to give bad advice in this area.

It sounds like even though you helped start the company you are only an employee. But is the owner your friend? Do you have any influence there? Is is possible to discuss management practices and make a change where you work?

Before you decide to abandon ship remember this as long as you are not the boss there will be things that you do not like.

Have you given any thought to what you would love to do? Take a few tests and read a few books on career changes. You may be able to talk to a college counselor for free. See what the possibilities are. Is it possible for your to start up your own company? It will take a lot of work and energy but the rewards could be wonderful.

You would not be throwing away your experience, just adding it to your resume. Get a newspaper and see what jobs are available and what interests you. Also contact the unemployment dept in your area, they usually have job listings. If a job doesn't say what it pays you can google it.

No matter what, don't quit your job until you have something else lined up. Good luck to you.
