I only recenlty moved here and wondered if I need to change it or if it doesn't matter where the Tax id originated, as long as you are paying your taxes
If I am conducting business on the internet out my NJ home and I have a PA state tax ID, Do I need a NJ tax id
Legally, you are required to obtain a merchant's license or certificate of resell in the state and possibly the county you are going to do business in. Most internet sellers do not follow through with this as sometimes it can be costly and very hard to maintain. Especially if you are starting a small business. Most times though, if you carry a merchant's license in the state you reside in and offer your goods with sales tax for your state, most times that is acceptable. It's wise to consult with a business attorney and accountant for issues such as these for your state to find out what is acceptable.

I think as long as you are paying your taxes to PA and NJ, you're ok.
